Aerospace company developing refueling infrastructure for satellites

Orbit Fab is a pioneer in developing refueling infrastructure for satellites. The company has created the world’s first commercial in-space fuel service and is the only provider whose interfaces are approved for use in satellites of the U.S. Department of Defense. Spacecraft have traditionally been single-use. Once fuel is depleted, even if the hardware remains fully operational, they become space debris — leading to losses of tens of billions of dollars. Up to 85% of satellites in geostationary orbit are decommissioned due to fuel depletion rather than technical failure. The emergence of in-orbit refueling standards is opening a new era in space logistics. Against the backdrop of rapid growth in satellite launches (McKinsey forecasts 27,000 new satellites by 2030) and the development of orbital services, demand for fuel and in-space servicing is expected to increase significantly. The company’s total addressable market is estimated at $100 billion by 2035.
